The Security Tracking and Response System (STAR)
The Security Tracking and Response Project (STAR) was developed as a joint effort between all Broward County District school sites (the District), the Special Investigative Unit (SIU), the Community Involvement Department, the Education Technology Services Department (ETS) and several vendors. STAR allows the District a standard method to document and track visitors, vendors, volunteers, mentors, business partners and parents as they enter and exit schools. This check-in process includes an automated background check against local, state and national sexual offender databases for daily school visitors and volunteers, known as Level 1 clearance and a more extensive background check for selected school volunteers, mentors, volunteer athletic coaches and vendors, known as Level 2 clearance.
STAR is supported by the Special Investigative Unit/SIU. User instruction manuals, security forms, training seminar schedule and other resources may be downloaded from the District’s computer network at (Accessible only on District computer network)
