School Social Work and Attendance

sswd logoSchool Social Work Services promote and support the educational process by meeting the individual needs of students and their families within a multicultural and multi-ethnic community. Through their unique training and practice, School Social Workers assess needs, provide professional services and mobilize school and community resources to overcome barriers and enable students to achieve educational success.

School social workers bring their unique skills and systems perspective to the assessment and diagnosis of children's needs. As Student Services support team members, school social workers initiate and support activities. Their goal is to overcome institutional barriers to learning and gaps in services to maximize academic performance.
