Provide highly motivated, underserved students with challenging classes and enriching activities. Students must commit to spending two summers in rigorous classes on the Pine Crest campus.
Breakthrough Ft. Lauderdale, part of the national Breakthrough Collaborative, is a non-profit educational program that works to increase educational opportunities and prepare highly motivated, yet underserved students in Broward County for college and beyond. Through a "students teaching students" approach, high school and college-age students provide high-energy, academically rich lessons to the middle school students during the summer and school-year program.
Breakthrough begins with students at the middle school level and continues working with them and their families throughout high school. Students are recruited and admitted during the 6th and 7th grades.
Our mission is to inspire excitement for learning, create pathways to college, and promote careers in education.
